About Hartnell Gardens

Hartnell Gardens was set up by Rob Hartnell in 2017. With the purpose to offer garden maintenance and landscaping services backed by expert knowledge in horticulture. Focusing on delivering high quality results, individually tailored to gardens and grounds.
After completing a Horticulture Diploma at Bicton College in 2001, Rob worked in several large public and private gardens across the Southwest. He gained extensive experience of maintenance and garden presentation whilst working at Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens in Dorset. This included planting of the Jurassic Garden at Chelsea Flower Show in 2006. He then went on to maintain the famous Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens gardens at Hestercombe in Somerset. Where he learnt about historical planting design and restoration of landscape features and buildings. He gained a second Diploma in Environmental Conservation in 2015. Rob is extremely passionate about plants, trees, and the natural world. He wanted to bring his energy and passion for beautifully presented and well-designed gardens to his customers.

Environmentally Conscious
We are passionate about protecting wildlife and the environment. Therefore, we minimise our impact using low emissions equipment, environmentally friendly products and techniques.
We use sustainable materials where possible such as higher quality landscape fabrics that don't break down like cheaper products. We also minimise our use of pesticides, opting for natural organic products and time-tested traditional methods as a first option.
Meet The Team
Hartnell Gardens are operated by Husband and Wife Team – Rob and Kate. With a strong focus on quality, we deliver a maintenance and landscaping service with a difference. We bring energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for plants to each garden and project.
Kate joined the team in 2022 from a background of Environmental Conservation and Art. She brings attention to detail, and a passion for plants and wildlife to all her work and an artistic view to garden designs. She provides exceptional customer service with her friendly, hardworking, and positive attitude.
