Low Maintenance Garden
Turning a large overgrown garden into a simple, low maintenance space with veg beds.

This client contacted us after we worked on their neighbours' garden where we levelled the lawn. They asked us to design and landscape their overgrown garden. We designed a series of raised beds, gravel paths and a new lawn to flow alongside the existing garden building.
When consulting with the client, the main brief was that they wanted it to be low maintenance. As it was a large space, we suggested creating a mixture of garden zones. By creating multi-use spaces it would give them the option to extend or enhance the garden in future, if needed. We presented our ideas using our 3d design software, so that we could tweak the plans as required.
We began by clearing the garden with a brush cutter, and then used a mini digger to remove the grass. The mini digger was also useful in removing weeds and roots, as well as grading the soil. Once the area was level, we then divided ther garden into the agreed areas; lawn, veg beds and seating. We seeded the designated area for the lawn with a hard wearing grass variety. Then we covered the areas set aside for seating and paths with a high quality geotextile membrane that doesn't degrade like other woven plastics. We used curved steel edging to create a seating area before topping the area with fine gravel.
The client was very happy with the results, as it meant their garden was a more useable, low maintenance space for them to enjoy.
